Guards and Appliances

Guards and appliances are removable dental devices used in preventative care to protect teeth from damage. Mouth guards and appliances will be custom-fitted by your dentist for optimal comfort.

There are several kinds of guards that assist with different issues:

The NTI Appliance is a small appliance worn on either the top or bottom front teeth and prevents clenching and grinding, which can lead to jaw pain and headaches.

The Under Armour Mouthguard is a particular mouth guard that is specifically designed to assist athletes whenever they clench their teeth. Teeth-clenching triggers the excess production and release of hormones like cortisol. These hormones have been shown to produce stress, fatigue and distraction, which hinders performance.

The Silent Nite Snore Guard opens the airways and makes breathing easier for the patient. It works by positioning the lower jaw into a more forward position. This guard is also custom designed to fit your teeth, which makes it more effective than OTC anti-snoring devices.

The Sleep Apnea TAP Appliance is used to treat sleep apnea (a sleeping disorder in which your breathing stops and starts repeatedly). The TAP appliance is custom-fitted by your dentist to help you sleep soundly, stop snoring, and protect your overall health. These appliances work by preventing the soft tissue from collapsing and interrupting normal sleeping patterns.
